The Big Reg Report

On rare occasions, Reg puts the fruity drinks aside and shares his views with The Beatdown fans!

Hey Beatdown fans, it's Big Reg and it's your weekly Reg Report, and we are all counting the days till WM. It's like 25 days and counting. I want to say congrats to PHX Rocket on the secret interview he had with GM Vicky Guerrero: it was good and funny. Well, back to the matter at hand, the world tag team title, which as of late has not been a priority of Vince and the WWE. There are two major tag team divisions and they're are not getting much attention. Before the brand split and acquisitions of WCW and ECW by the WWE, the tag division was a major division in the company. After the brand split, WCW tag titles were done away with and the WWE created the WWE tag team tittles and left the world titles on Raw. The confusion was that the WCW titles became the world titles and the WWE stayed as they are, but this is not the case. The WCW title was deactivated and the WWE created the WWE tag titles. Picking a best tag team is kind of tough because there were so many like LOD, New Age Outlaws, the Hart Foundation, 3D and the list goes on. So, if am going to pick a great tag team, it has to be Team 3D, with Edge and Christian a close second and the Hardyz a close third. The reason I picked the Dudley’s is because they are clearly the best at what they do and that’s tag team wrestling. They have won every major tag team title in the industry and they had the match of the year twice. All I have to say -- 22 times -- that is all that is left to say.

Hey Beat Down fans, it's your boy, Big Reg, and it's time for the Big Reg Report. We have a month until WM 25 and I thought it would be cool if I shared with my fans who my all time favorite champions are from the Intercontinental title to the WWE title. The first title I chose was the IC title. This belt is probably the most prestigious belt in sports entertainment, but as of late it has been used as a stepping stone to the two major titles in the WWE. This title has been held by so many superstars, but no one better then the Macho Man Randy Savage. Even though he only had one title reign, he held it a whopping 414 days, maybe not longer than the Honky Tonk Man, but he did wrestle in some pretty big matches. The biggest ever was when he lost it to Ricky Steamboat at WM 3, which went down to be one of the greatest matches of all times. Next week I will be talking about The U.S title and who was the greatest title holder but until then beat down fans, be easy.

Hey Beatdown fans, this is another installment of your weekly Reg Report. This week I’m going to flip the script on everybody. This week I’m not going to be talking about Behind Enemy Lines. Everybody heard what I said about it on the radio. It’s all about you, Phoenix Rocket, and how every week you are on the radio talking about: you’re the Beatdown champ and how you're also the people's champ. Well, sorry sir, your none of those . If you are the so called Beatdown champ, you would be the Beatdown champ and not have all this tough talk between you and the real Southern Kentucky Superstar, Randall Shane. By the way, by my count Phoenix Rocket, you're 0-1. You lost your right to contend for the Beatdown title to Cardiac Champ. If you want to take that up with Cardiac Champ, that’s between you and the big man. As far a being the people's champ, what you're more like is the people’s chump as far as I’m concerned. You don’t even have a fan base and your mom does not count. You only have been in the studio for what, five months and I’ve been there since the first show. Who came up with the idea of a hard-hitting report segment? Me! You're just riding my coattails! So who's stealing whose thunder? That would be you, sir. Here is a bit of advice: before your head gets any bigger from all the hot air coming out of that trashcan you call a mouth, win a match, then we can talk.

Peace

Hey, Beatdown fans, it's a new year and being that it's a new year, I have new hopes and predictions for WWE and TNA but before I get into all that I want to bring everyone's attention to the Rocket Report. Were did this knock off come from I know imitation is the kindest form of flattery but as hard as you try, you can never attain the hard-hitting, giving it to you straight, no chaser insight that the Big Reg report gives the people every week. So I say bring it on; you’re the WCW/TNA to my WWE.

Sorry fans,  I had to put who ever put that joke of a report up in his or her place. Back to the new year: expectations are high for TNA in 09; they just need to keep on doing what they are doing with the new talent and the talent they have now giving the people what they want: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling! Their biggest asset is the return of Jarrett and his feud with Angle is reminiscent of the McMahon-Austin feud during the attitude era in WWE. Keep the feud with MEM and the FL going, but not so long that it gets overused like the NWO was. As for the WWE, well there's not much that I can say for the largest wrestling promotion in the world, but what I would say is this: I know that the business is more about entertainment and furthering story lines so there has to be a significant amount of mic time. But that does not have to take a way from what everybody paid good money to see and that’s wrestling. What I would suggest is an unexpected heel turn; someone like Trips, he's so over that they like him anyway. Create a super-faction that can dominate all three brands. It's like WWE are just going through the motions from week to week. Bring in another belt like the light heavyweight title or try to get The Rock or Stone Cold back for WM 25 and build it up starting now. Well, that's my thoughts. I do hope some of them come true. This has been your Reg Report.

Any comments you can e-mail me or any of the Beatdown crew at the contact page on the web site.

Hello Beat Down fans this is Big Reg with another installment of the Reg Report. You may have heard a version of the Big Reg Report live on the Beatdown which I might add is two hours now. I want to thank Chris and Ryan for letting me be a part of this wild ride with them. Let's get on with this week’s topic: the new Raw VS. Smackdown witch came out last Sunday. The game in my opinion is the best RW VS SD game to date. It still has some features that are lacking but over all it the best Wrestling game this year.

Graphics

The Graphics are one aspect of the game that I did not like. Don’t get me wrong, compared to past games, the graphics of this game are impeccable, but there are some spots were they dropped the ball. The wide shot of the arena and ring are not as crystal clear as the back stage areas and some of the superstars. Some of the character graphics were perfect and some shabby at best. It seems like more time was spent on the more important characters than the other characters. Here are some examples Maria, Jr. and The King. There graphics look pretty soft with no definition compared to characters like Batista and Y2J where their graphics had definition that really looks like beads of sweat dripping off their bodies. I give the graphics 7/10 Chair Shots

Game play and Mis Info

The game play improved over leaps and bounds over last years game. They have removed features that were not needed in the game like the fighting styles and create a belt. However,: aspects of the fighting styles are incorporated in this years game: example if Umaga were to bleed it would "Hulk him up" so to speak. New to the game are Create a finisher were as the title says you can create your own finishers and add them to an existing superstar or to one you have created. Another new feature is the new tag team feature were your able to make hot tags with your partner. They have also added new double team moves and finishers to make the tag team matches even better. Two new features to the game are Road to WrestlMania and the career mode. Road to Wrestlmania is the Story line part of the single player mode were you take any one of the six preset Superstars on the 78 day road to Wrestlmania. The Six superstars are Triple H, Undertaker, John Cena, CM Punk, Chris Jericho and a co storyline with Batista and Rey Mysterio. After only playing two storylines in my opinion this is the best addition to the game ever. The storylines have been well planed and well thought out they have included the tribute to the troops story line and DX and Evolution story lines just to name a few. Also in the road to WM is where you can unlock other superstars and secret characters, move sets, and alternate ring attire. The career mode is were you take any superstar of your choosing or a created Wrestler on a championship track to win every title in WWE. The problems with both modes are that in road to WM it is a short schedule and you do get to experience all of the pay per views in a storyline setting like a royal rumble even though the Royal Rumble is one of the two ppv’s on the road to WM. The other problem with road to WM that you don’t get to experience every storyline possibility. The problem with the career mode is that there isn’t versatility to the mode. What I mean is that you only can wrestle the superstars that are on that champ track and that got really boring after a while they could have added a little story in between the matches. Another thing I liked is that they have added is secondary finisher moves that the superstars have to complement their primary finishers. For example John Cena’s secondary finishers are STFU, five knuckle shuffle and the leg drop off the top rope. Every superstar has secondary signature moves; which I think is a plus. Another drawback of the game is the lack of grapple moves for each individual superstar. The heavy weights have their own move sets and the light heavy weights have their own move sets as well and I’m positive that super heavy weights have their own moves too. The problem with this is that all of the same moves are specific to each category of wrestler. So on the game play I give it 9.5/10 Chair shots

Final Thoughts

I love the game and it's very exciting and when I finally buy the game it will be the only game in my XBOX. One last note for all you gamers: if you're one of those gamers who plays by themselves this may not be the game for you. The reason I say this is because the game is geared more to multiplayer action than the single play modes.
